All personal information gathered by Emmaus Road Supervision during the provision of supervision services will remain confidential and secure. The law provides for certain instances where professional confidentiality can be breached. Unless required by law, Emmaus Road Supervision will only discuss or disclose your information with or to a third party with your written consent. The nature and content of our discussions, as well as the fact that you are a supervisee, is strictly confidential. Normally we will only speak to someone else about you or let somebody else know that you are a supervisee with your written permission. There are some exceptions to this, that you need to be aware of:
- If you disclose information which may lead your supervisor to suspect that there could be child abuse occurring, this information may need to be passed to the appropriate authorities.
- If your supervisor has reason to believe that you may be in danger of physically hurting yourself or somebody else, then other people (such as family, emergency services or friends) may need to be involved to keep you safe or to keep other people safe.
- If legal proceedings are taken out against either Emmaus Road Supervision, your supervisor or you relating to your situation, then your file may be subpoenaed by a court of law or accessed by a legal representative of Emmaus Road Supervision. Should this occur, you will be informed unless prohibited by the party requiring the information.
- To comply with professional and ethical requirements, your supervisor will receive supervision on their supervision practice by outsourced professional supervisors on a regular basis. Supervisors do not share what they learn during supervision sessions, nor are any identifying details shared.
